Dear Readers,
This month has been pretty amazing for all things Fusion. A special thanks to all of our contributors for working together and helping us bring this issue to completion. We cannot do this without you. Phillip Leach, Kim Woo, Pattie Curie, Ellen Von Essen, Jessica Hudson, Lisa Mejia, Laura Lewis.
On February 2nd we had our first of many Austin Fusion events. The Swan Dive was an excellent place to hold our Launch Party. The place was packed with the beautiful and talented people of Austin. All the profits from the door cover went to pay the DJ, and the bands as well as the sound engineer. The walls were decked with art by Charlie Terrell, Images from John Paul Wilson and Fuzebox Photography. We had the room filled with music provided by Superlitebike, Heroine Farmer and DJ Hexum. Electric Frenchie, Bloomers and Sabra Johnson featured their fashion lines with the help of Edith Henry for Frenchie, Bobi Douglas and Kelli Wison did the makeup and hair, along with Amy Evers and Lecia Bates. We awarded our two Facebook contest winners Ford Hooks won our VIP contest, while Shawn Collie won our photo contest. Shawn was awarded an original Charlie Terrell piece of art, a painting of a self portrait Shawn provided.
All together the Launch party was a hit, we got a few complimentary write ups in local newspapers and fashion blogs. There were several photographers who showed up and many beautiful shots. Check out our Facebook page for more of the images. To the staff at Swan Dive, Glynn Wedgewood and Josie Fluri the evening couldn’t of gone as smoothly without your help.
There are some really exciting things coming up in the next few months. Stay tuned because it is starting to get busy of here, our schedule is lining up with some pretty rad features, events and contributors.
In March we will have a different look during SXSW. We will return to the original format in April. But, we will change it up just for the event , we will have simultaneous coverage, post coverage and a day/week planner for events during SXSW. ‘Cause Austin Fusion is official we got PRESS BADGES!! Film, interactive and music will be covered. We are also proud to announce we are official sponsors for The Matchbox Showcase at the Dirty Dog on 6th street. More details to come.
It seems we are on to something here, the Austin community has been very encouraging and supportive of what we are trying to do. Thank you Austin! We hope to continue to do you proud.
XOXO,
Linda &Chonie
